When my kids were younger, from about age 2 - 6 or so, they were very picky eaters. My son used to refuse to eat anything I made for dinner, which was very frustrating. What do you do if your kids won't eat? Good question - there are lots of different opinions. Should you worry that they aren't getting enough to eat?
This great article from the New York Times, "Picky Eaters? They Get It from You", talks about how this is actually a hereditary trait - so it could be the parents fault! It also states that it is perfectly normal and it doesn't last long. Read more in this great article...
I never did make separate meals for my kids. I just didn't have the time or patience. Most times, if they were hungry enough, they would eat at least a little. Now they are pretty good eaters and will actually try a lot of different things, including calamari (squid)! I have always given them a children's multivitamin just to make sure they are getting essential nutrients. They are now strong, healthy kids. Now it seems like they eat everything!
My friend and coworker with a two year old who only eats bagels and cream cheese has a great idea. She puts a liquid children's multivitamin along with a powdered Omega supplement in a smoothie. This way she can make sure she does get some essential nutrients. You could even put it some chocolate milk or a shake.
What do you do to get your kids to eat? Send me your tips!

I try to set a good example by eating lots of fruits and vegetables. I don't pressure the kids but I do encourage them to try small amounts my food at every meal. I've found that they like the crunchy uncooked vegetables more than the cooked ones, so I've adapted my taste preferences too.
