Tips on How to Travel with Liquid Supplements

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 by Leslie Ellis

Getting ready to travel this summer?

July is one of the most popular traveling months of the year.  Whether it is camping, road trips or flying to your favorite vacation destination, taking Liquid Supplements along can be challenging, but not impossible.  It is important to continue taking all of your supplements each and every day, even on vacation.  Unfortunately, taking a large bottle with you is not the most convenient; but can still be done with these tips:

  • For carry-ons, pour supplement into 3 oz containers and put in quart size bag that seals very well to prevent leakage.  Three ounces will last 3 days.

  • For checked luggage, put bottle in a gallon size ziploc bag to protect other items from possible leakage.

  • Buy a new bottle of your chosen Liquid Supplement at your destination and give any leftovers to friends or relatives.  Be sure to check ahead of time to find locations to buy.

  • Ship bottle to location via UPS or mail so that it is there when you arrive.  You can even ship to a hotel and they will hold it until you check-in.
What do you do when you travel?  Do you still take all your supplements or do you just leave them at home and start again when you get back?  It is ok to do this for one or two days, but for a supplement such as the liquid glucosamine and chondroitin, skipping a few days can make your joints start feeling worse again.  That's the last thing you want when you are on vacation.

Next time you travel and want to bring liquid supplements along, try one of these tips and you can relax knowing you can still take them.

That sounds easy enough.

I like using the actual bottles that my supplements come in due to less leakage and no mix ups . If you have a pouch with different compartments that you can use to transport there is less of chance of breaking if bottles are glass.

I did not fill out your survey re what I take when traveling as I no longer travel....sort of a relief, actually!!!

I like to transfer my liquid supplements into smaller bottles that fit into a ziplock bag. I always take my supplements with me!
Thursday, July 15, 2010 by terri:
i really like the bottles
Thursday, July 15, 2010 by Jeffrey:
travel sizes for liquid supplements would be an excellent idea. Full size bottles are to big and heavy, and other improvised methods for carrying small amounts leak or break.
Thursday, July 15, 2010 by judy :
I transfer into smaller containers for carry on, and leave as is for packing in checked luggage.
Thursday, July 15, 2010 by Mary Barden:
I have saved the maple syrup bottles from Cracker Barrel, fill with Wellesse and bag them.
Thursday, July 15, 2010 by Rose Kraft:
My budget is very limited and I must go the least inexpensive route to maintain the liquids. I do not fly, ever. But when I drive I have an insulated food bag with ice to keep my meds in for safety. I appreciate the choice of a liquid over a pill. Thank you

I do leave mine at home, but have my hubby buy some if I feel like i'm coming up short on something.

Supplements help keep your strength up while traveling.

I've allwase had to take chewable tablets dident know thar was a liquid suplament, but it sounds handyer
Friday, July 16, 2010 by CJL:
As with any vitamin regimen, you should not stop when traveling or your body may lose what's already stored. You don't stop taking your regular meds when traveling, do you?
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Dennis george:
It's easy to forget to take them.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Kelly Crocker:
The travel bottle are best to travel with.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Donna Blake:
I like idea of using 3oz bottles until you get to your destination. The travel size bottles are a good. No worries about labels falling off.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Valerie:
small bottles are best to travel with. If I can not get it in a small bottle, I will either pour it into a smaller container or do without. I don't like buying things at my destination because sometimes it's hard to get to grocery/drug stores.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by patty McVey:
very helpful information...thanks
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Andrea:
If I have room, I take the bottle inside a ziploc bag. If I don't have room, I leave it at home and feel bad about not taking it. A 'Travel Size' would be great!
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Ruth:
I would have to take them with me in smaller bottles.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Linda:
I pack my supplements in Ziploc bags for safe travel.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Nancy VanDyke:
The small bottles sounds great. It is always a hassle , worrying about leaks. Thanks
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Bettejane Brown:
I don't travel a lot, but when I do my liquid supplement goes with me. I miss very few days without taking it. Great product.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Vickie McDonald:
A travel pack would be a lot easier than lugging the 16 oz bottle along.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Deborah:
I think the travel bottles sound great, that way you won't risk losing your big bottles of same supply - and they are easy to pack!
Friday, July 16, 2010 by DT:
When I travel, I go as light as possible. So I usually don't take any supplements with me, but I always wish I had some. My diet seems to go a little askew and it can put a damper on my trip if I'm not at my best. Especially calcium for me, so these would be perfect to try. Thank you
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Donna:
Travel size liquid supplements are a great idea. I would definitely take them with me on any trip if available. Now I either forfeit taking them if the trip is a short one or if it's several days I try to find a container that locks well to prevent slippage and only measure out what I need for the days I'm away.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Eleanor Flatley:
I have shipped the whole bottle of Calcium and Vit D wellesse to my daughter's home in Houston, but like the idea of pouring into 3 oz. plastic bottles and then plastic bags, for my carry-ons. Will try that next time.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Maureen Gomes:
I always take my vitamins and supplements with me when I travel. Otherwise, I am sacrificing all of the gains that I have made healthwise by missing those days. I pour liquid supplement into empty 5 Hour Energy plastic bottles because they are 2 ounces to comply with TSA requirements.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Jennier Johnson:
Buy them when I get there
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Sheri:
traveling is taking my garbage and recycling down the driveway
Friday, July 16, 2010 by flor marte:
Finally! I've been waiting for a liquid tired of taking tablets
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Deborah:
I would be in a lot of pain if I forgot my pills or liquid, so I am religious in taking them, even when traveling.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Patricia El-Kareh:
I try to live "green" as much as possible, reason why I choose not to buy the 2 oz travel-size supplement bottles. Instead, I fill eco-friendly, re-usable PBA-free containers/bottles with liquid supplements when traveling. When I travel abroad, I take Wellesse's 33.8 oz bottle (yes, the large bottle) and give the leftovers to friends and family. I love Wellesse's products and always promote it to everyone I know.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by George Gaona:
I do not take mine when traveling. The bottles take up too much space and even in plastic bag its messy when they leak.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Tanya Bakenhester:
Travel size bottles much easier for flying
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Florence :
I always take my liquid supplements with me. I take the full size bottles in a mini cooler and store them at the hotel. Pouring them into smaller containers is a good idea, too.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Judy:
A travel size? How perfect! Thank you Wellesse.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Carlton Sargent:
I travel with enough supplements to cover the days of travel. I typically travel with supplements in the original container (for recognition) with extra cotton to protect the pills or if it is liquid I put them into smaller bottles and in to ziploc bags.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by HR:
Liquids and travel (especially commercial travel) don't mix well for me so unfortunately I rely on pills (which are not as effective it seems)
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Jane:
I usually take my full size bottle with me. Having the supplements in 2 oz bottles sounds great. I would consider it!
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Joyce D'Agostino:
Love the idea of travel size bottles of the liquid supplements! We had usually had to go to another brand is pill form in order to take our Vitamin D for example when traveling.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Janice Bird:
smaller bottles are great as they can be carried in your purse without adding extra weight.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Minwell Raynor:
I've always been one to take my vitamins & medication with me when I travel. This story may help someone: a friend of mine of long standing went wiht his fiance to Pittsburgh; he realized he forgot his medications. One day, he was feeling tired and took a nap. That was his last day. We should always maintain a steady schedule to take your vitamins & medications. They really are there for you to keep you well, and it takes only a minute or two to do.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Nan:
I'd like a 3 day and 7 day option in travel options.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Roger Crawford:
I use to take pills for joint pain, a friend recommended the welleese liquid..I am a truck driver which puts a strain on my body, I have noticed that if i miss a dose or too my joints start acheing. When I travel I take a small cooler, I like to take it cold.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Theresa Crawford:
My husbands friend recommended the welleese to us..I usually drive every where I go..so the bottle is not a problem. I had some grinding noise in my neck ...have noticed it has eased considerably since taking the welleese.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Christy :
I agree with Nan, I would like to see a 7 day option.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Fred:
I take my Welleese out of the refrigerator every morning and pour into a one ounce container, but when traveling I put it into smaller containers.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Ray Z:
Great idea - no worrry about leaking or leaving the rest of the bottle at the hotel when you leave.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Cheryl :
I usually forget my supplements when traveling. A travel pack would make it easier to stay with my routine.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Donna Guyer:
I love my Wellesse Liquid Vitamin D!!! I actually enjoy taking it every day. I was always forgeting to take my Vitamin D pill form supplement, probably because I don't like swallowing pills.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by sunny:
Sounds good. Easier to carry that way too.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Ethel Ellis:
What a grand idea...smaller packages and totally sealed. Less of a mess and easier to take along the right dose. Looking forward to them when they become available. Wish they were right now since I will be traveling to the East Coast in two weeks and they would be great to take along.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Ray J:
When I fly I buy a bottle when I get to my destination and throwaway the rest
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Ronia:
I would LOVE a Wellesse Travel Sample Pack! I travel to NY to visit family every year for the holidays and that would be awesome to take with me on the plane! I hope I win! :-)
Friday, July 16, 2010 by elsie:
I am grateful for the tips.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Jeanine B:
A travel size 3 & 7 day pack would be wonderful. Now, I buy a bottle at my destination if I travel for 7 or more days, but that leaves quite a bit of liquid left over when I have to fly back home. On trips of 3 days or less, I pour into smaller plastic containers and carry on board. Great idea to offer the travel packs. Thanks.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Jen:
Wellese is such a great brand- makes taking your vitamins easy!
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Leslie Sorapuru:
trial size liquors sounds great.
Friday, July 16, 2010 by Michael Michaud:
I like to travel with the original bottles. I first tear a small square off a grocery store plastic bag, remove the Wellesse bottle cap, place the plastic square on top of the bottle and replace the cap. The bottle now has a "gasket". I then place the entire bottle in a zip lock bag and toss it into my luggage.
Saturday, July 17, 2010 by Lynn:
That is an excellent idea..smaller packaging. would also be easier to store while traveling. thanks for all the newsletters
Saturday, July 17, 2010 by Barbara Sweeting:
I would love to have smaller sizes, so I can cut down on my weight in my luggage.
Saturday, July 17, 2010 by Philomena:
I always travel all the time for work and I always take my Wellesse with me. I put my wellesse in a small 3oz bottle and carry it on board, with no problem. If I need more before returning home, I purchase a small bottle and tuck in my check in luggage.
Saturday, July 17, 2010 by Lori:
That is a great idea. Thank you for making sample packs.
Saturday, July 17, 2010 by Diane:
This is great for airline travelers based on their size and they do not take up a great deal of room
Sunday, July 18, 2010 by Debra:
great idea for traveling with liquids as they can be a big pain. thank you for thinking of us travelers:)
Monday, July 19, 2010 by Dottie Walker:
IT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL TO HAVE A TRAVEL CONTAINER OF WELLESSE SO I WOULD NOT MISS OUT ON THE BENEFITS OF THIS PRODUCT WHILE TRAVELING!!
Monday, July 19, 2010 by Sher:
When I travel I switch to tablets/capsules/pills. It's been the easiest way for me. But a Wellesse Travel Sample Pack may change my mind. I really like the idea. It may eliminate the potential mess and general hassle of traveling with liquid supplements. Good thinking!
Monday, July 19, 2010 by ANN:
I use a food saver to seal in the bottle so there will be no leakage in my suitcase.Worked well.
Sunday, August 1, 2010 by Carol:
I would love a Wellesse Travel size bottle. I usually just don't take it while on vacation and restart when I return home as I don't want to take the big bottle with me.
