As the temperatures start warming up, it’s a great time to visit the local produce stands and farmer’s markets. Take advantage of as much fresh, local produce as possible.
According to the Dietary Guidelines, we need 2 cups of vegetables and 2.5 cups of fruit each day. Just think about how different your diet would be if you actually ate that many fruits and vegetables daily. By doing so, you will have less room in your tummy for junk food and you’ll increase your fluid intake from foods. Plus, you’ll load up on a variety of healthy antioxidants and fiber. There are plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in season this spring and summer.
