Tackle the New Year with New Exercise Goals

Though you can set goals at any time of the year, there’s nothing like New Year’s to start fresh and make a dent in your exercise program. Here are the important things to remember:

  • Tell everyone around you. Be sure to tell your friends, family and colleagues about your goals. Just by doing this you’ll feel more inclined to actually follow through. And, you’ll also have people reinforcing your goals everyday.
  • Make realistic short-term goals you can stick with. New Years doesn’t just mean resolutions. It also means your work may pile up and your boss may be knocking down your door. So, start an exercise program but, but be realistic with your goals. If you are starting from scratch, aim for 3 days a week.
  • Revisit your goals and progress. Every few weeks you should revisit what your current exercise program looks like and find ways to challenge yourself.
  • Change things up. When the weather starts to warm up, be sure to change your routine so your enthusiasm for staying active
